Safety is a top priority for the Kia brand, so it is an honor for one of their vehicles to be named a Top Safety Pick+ by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). It is the 2017 Kia Sedona minivan. Want to know more about what this vehicle has in store? Keep reading for more information!

To earn a Top Safety Pick+ rating, a vehicle must have Automatic Emergency Braking technology and achieve the top rating of “Good” for crashworthiness tests including side impact with a large SUV or pickup truck, moderate-offset frontal impact, small-offset frontal impact, roof-deformation consistent with a rollover, and rear collision capable of inducing whiplash.

The 2017 model year brought some fantastic changes for the Kia Sedona. Those included an available Autonomous Emergency Braking system that features Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning, and Smart Cruise Control, UVO3 e-Services system, Dynamic bending light, available acoustic windshield, and enhanced Essentials Premium Package. The 2017 Kia Sedona was also honored by the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) with a five-star crash rating.

“Buyers often place safety at the top of their list when shopping for a new minivan,” said Orth Hedrick, vice president, product planning KMA. “The IIHS is a highly respected safety authority and we see the 2017 Sedona’s TSP+ rating as validation of Kia’s dedication to its customers and to the continuous efforts to build better and safer vehicles.”
