Most automakers have eco-friendly vehicles–it’s an important part of a brand’s fleet. It was recently announced that Kia is expanding this part of their fleet, and kicked off production of the Kia Soul EV. This is the second Kia vehicle to become EV, and the first globally distributed Kia EV vehicle. Kia is excited about this endeavor, calling it a “landmark event.” So what can we expect out of this vehicle? Keep reading to find out.
The Kia Soul EV will feature a high capacity 192-cell 27kWh lithium-ion polymer battery pack. The battery will be combined with a 8104 kW electric motor. This battery/engine combination definitely helps save energy–but it’s not the only energy-saving feature! Things like a smart air intake control system, a new heat pump and a new individual ventilation system will also make sure this vehicle is one of the most energy-smart vehicles out there.
The Kia Soul EV is not just eco-friendly through its engine–it also has eco-friendly materials inside the vehicle like Bio Plastic, Bio Foam, Bio Fabric and Bio PET Felt. Consumers are sure to love this!
These Kia Soul EV vehicles aren’t expected to arrive on lots until later in 2014, so check back here later for more information.
