Manufacturers display all manner of concept vehicles from potential future models, to futuristic design studies, to purely imaginative flights of fancy, all to get us excited about driving their vehicles.
Kia recently unveiled a bold, exciting new concept vehicle, the Kia Niro Concept. Whether this Kia concept vehicle winds up for sale or not, it sure has us excited!
Calling it an “urban lifestyle concept vehicle,” the Kia Niro Concept is intended to prowl city streets with purpose and efficiency. With its compact size, interesting materials and design, and a whole lot of attitude, the Kia Niro Concept vehicle fits right in the lineup of exciting, bold, and expressive Kia vehicles like the 2014 Kia Soul and 2014 Kia Sportage.
According to Gregory Guillaume, Chief Designer at Kia Design Center Europe, “Ten years ago people wanted understated style in the SUV market, but increasingly, as more people migrate to the B-segment, they are looking for strong character and individuality… It may have the looks of a Dakar [Rally] contender, but Niro has a strong premium feel thanks to our innovative use of advanced and modern materials that mix brawn with spirit to deliver a playful vehicle ready to be part of anyone’s active lifestyle.”
The Kia Niro Concept is just as exciting underneath its expressive exterior — the Kia Niro Concept is Hybrid-powered. It’s propelled by a combination of a turbocharged 1.6-liter, 160-horsepower gasoline-combustion engine and an advanced regenerative braking system for powerful, fun-to-drive performance from all four wheels.
