Have you ever driven coast to coast? If you have, you know it can take a lot of stops at gas stations, not just to use the restrooms, but also to fill up your tank. The Kia brand is excited to announce the all-new 2016 Kia Niro just set a Guinness World Record by consuming the lowest fuel amount while driving across the US!
The Kia Niro is a hybrid vehicle and achieved 76.6 miles per gallon on this road trip. The vehicle was driven by Wayne Gerdes from Carlsbad, CA and his co-driver Robert Winger from Williamsburg, VA . They used 48.5 gallons of gas, which is about 4.1 tanks of gas.
This vehicle will be available in five trim levels: FE, LX, EX, Touring and Limited-quantity Launch Edition. It will include a plethora of drivers assistance features such as Autonomous Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Change Assist, and Lane Departure Warning. Other features include Smart Cruise Control, advanced telematics, navigation, UVO3 with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a seven-inch touchscreen, and a Harman Kardon Premium audio system. You will be able to drive around yourself and four of your friends in the Kia Niro.
“We’re extremely pleased with the Kia Niro record-breaking performance,” said Orth Hedrick, vice president, product planning KMA. “We set out to build a vehicle that offers real-world utility, great looks, and fantastic mileage, and setting the Guinness World Record® title confirms our achievement.”
