Spring is a good time of year to schedule general maintenance at our Kia service center in Folsom, CA. Your car can benefit from a professional technician after a cold winter. Here is a list of services we recommend as part of a spring tune-up.
Wiper Blades
With spring comes spring showers. Activate your wiper blades to see if they adequately wipe away water. If the blades are leaving behind streaks, then it may be time to replace the blades. Fortunately, these are one of the more inexpensive and easier parts to replace.
Oil Check
You should perform an oil check once a month. This task is especially important in spring after a full season of winter commuting. Pull out the oil dipstick, wipe it clean, and reinsert it. Pull it back out and examine the oil. If it’s near the “low” indicator or if the oil appears sludge-like, then schedule an oil change. Keep in mind driving conditions dictate oil change intervals more than mileage.
Battery Check
To reduce the odds of the battery dying suddenly, perform a voltage check with every maintenance visit at the dealership. In addition, each inspection under the hood should include an examination of the battery. If the battery case appears swollen, this indicates the lead acid inside the cell is producing dangerous gasses. It’s time for a replacement.
Fluid Check
Perform a check of all the fluids and top them off if they’re low. Fluids to check include:
- Transmission fluid
- Power steering fluid
- Coolant
- Brake fluid
- Washer fluid
