The Kia brand continues to rack up awards and accolades for the top quality vehicles they produce. Most recently, five of their vehicles were honored by J.D. Power in their 2017 Initial Quality Study Awards.
The vehicles included the Kia Soul in the compact multi-purpose vehicle segment, the Kia Forte in the compact car segment, the Kia Cadenza in the large car segment, the Kia Niro in the small SUV, and the Kia Sorento in the midsize SUV segment.
These awards are based on responses from over 77,000 consumers who scored vehicles based on driving experience, engine and transmission performance, and quality problem symptoms. The Kia brand was also recognized as the highest-ranking nameplate in the United States. This is the second year in a row the Kia brand won this prestigious title. The brand improved its overall rating by a whopping 11 points, having 72 problems per 100 vehicles, which is the best nameplate performance within the last 20 years.
“When [the] Kia [brand] beat out the entire industry in last year’s J.D. Power Initial Quality Study many people wondered if we could maintain such a lofty position. Today, the answer is loud and clear as Kia owns the top spot for the second straight year with more 2017 segment award winners than any other nameplate,” said Michael Sprague, chief operating officer and EVP, Kia Motors America. “Our back-to-back chart-topping IQS performances reconfirm Kia’s status as today’s world-class automaker and reflect the exacting standards and craftsmanship our team members instill into every car, crossover, and SUV [the] Kia [brand] builds.”
