The Kia brand is excited to announce that the 2018 Kia Sorento has earned the Top Safety Pick Plus rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The vehicle must be equipped with the newly acceptable-rated headlights and built after May 2017. To earn a Top Safety Pick Plus rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety vehicles must receive a top rating of “Good” in all five crashworthiness tests which include small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side impact, roof strength and head restraints. They must also receive an “Advanced” or “Superior” rating for front crash prevention as well as “Acceptable” or “Good” on their headlight testing.
“[The] Kia [brand]’s commitment to building durable, capable vehicles is underscored by Kia Sorento receiving this tremendous safety accolade,” said Orth Hedrick, vice president, product planning, KMA. “The highest possible safety rating from IIHS for Kia Sorento bookends the recent J.D. Power Initial Quality award.”
The 2018 Kia Sorento is a mid-size crossover that is available in five trim levels: L, LX, EX, SX and SX Limited. The vehicle can be configured to fit five or seven passengers. It comes with available advanced driver assistance systems, such as the Advanced Smart Cruise Control, Blind Spot Detection, and Lane Departure Warning.
